*1 Charles Bamford drowned in the River Derwent on Monday the 23rd day of June 1783 with going into the river to bathe. He was not found until the 21st of July when some persons that were fishing in the river found him about the lower end of the Meadow below Whatstandwell Bridge on that side of the river next to Crich, although he went into the River to bathe at the steps
